In late 2016, I designed the Wildlife Management Criteria for incorporation into Territorial Development and Planning Plans, a Technical Guide that provides political, technical, and legal orientation for territorial actions related to the conservation and management of natural resources at the national level. This work falls within the Project for the Development of Landscape Management Approaches in Ecuador's National System of Protected Areas to improve the conservation of globally endangered wildlife. As part of the same project and as a companion deliverable to the guide, I also designed the Guidelines for the Creation and Management of Decentralized Autonomous, Community, and Private Conservation and Sustainable Use Areas. Unlike the protocols, these were designed in a smaller format, conceived as a short booklet or pamphlet that would be easier to carry around. The participating organizations involved were GEF (Global Environment Facility), UNDP (United Nations Development Programme), and WCS (Wildlife Conservation Society).
